Nov 2, 2017. #1. Just got a set and thinking of cutting them down and using a 3 step aider on each. My question is about where to cut them down. Considering cutting them just below the middle step at the bottom of that solid section just before the slot cut out begin again. I think my 1 Hawk Helium stick is around 21" and step space is about 18". I don't really use the top step much. When I get all the way on the top step and move the tether to max height I can't reach the stick. I do have the buckles on the straps covered with kayak grips but even just pulling the strap tight can cause a bit of noise on quiet days.
